2009 Dallas Cowboys Fantasy Football Preview
F or the 3rd straight year under the guidance of Wade Phillips and Tony Romo Cowboys were a train wreck of an organization and not to live up to their preseason Super Bowl hype. In 2006 he was the pie snap against the Seahawks in Seattle. In 2007, the area of end-errant pass thrown by Romo spelled their fate and last year the team failed to qualify for the playoffs final from being blown by the Philadelphia Eagles 44-6 during the final week of the regular season a winner goes to the playoffs and the loser goes home scenario. This scenario leads us to 2009 version of America's team in the brand new multi-billion dollar Dallas Cowboys Stadium, which will debut to the nation Sept. 20 against the NY Giants on NBC Sunday Night Football. I can not think of a team with more pressure on it this year in Dallas. Terrell Owens is gone in a move owner Jerry Jones described how to make the Cowboys "by Romo as "friendly. I'm not a fan of TO but in his defense the receiver has been scandalous to be the scapegoat for everything that was going wrong in Big D. my opinion this is good or bad year for Romo. Everything in the organization is to be supplied to its continued development and there will be no one to blame if This year things go array. Do you think Dirk Nowitzki feelings were hurt after waiting more than cheated Cougar you see how Jones deals with the Cowboys if Romo do not play in their new stadium this year kind of fortress. With this in mind let's look at what the Cowboys offer fantasy owners heading into 2009.
As I mentioned, along with JaMarcus Russell is put up or shut time for Romo that I believe is an overvalued Putz is lazy and more concerned about his public image than with being a great NFL QB. I am not only as a Cowboys quarterback Troy Aikman HOF took shots similar to Romo Michael Irvin Show on ESPN Radio shortly after the season completed. No question Romo has some talent and if he dedicates himself to his art can be a star in this league. Showed that potential. However, it always seems the potential is in the first three quarters of the season and then when the playoffs roll in December and he is a complete train wreck coast time and again poke games. (Remember the Pittsburgh Steelers game against the Cowboys, who had won until Romo singlehandedly lost the game for them with his INT in the final minutes?) Furthermore, in terms of Romo imagination has another important job negative against him and that is clearly the loss of Owens. Say what you want about him but the man produces. In his three years with the Cowboys Owens caught 235 passes for 3,587 yds and 38 TD's incredible. Who is going to compensate those numbers? Roy Williams? Please. Williams is not half the receiver is not he owns half his work ethic. That leaves the Cowboys with Miles Austin, Patrick Crayton, along with a rag tag group of kids who really have no business method to go with the NFL Pro Bowl TE Jason Witten. Romo is a number one fantasy QB, but I will not be drafting him, as there's at least 10-12 QB would have preferred. To be perfectly frank, there is nothing I like number 9, which includes everything from its decisions, work habits, and the body will be throwing to receivers 2009. Let Romo be some other problem Owners of this year your not.
Like many teams in the new era of the NFL Cowboys backfield will use several options none of which exceeds any number 2 RB. Obviously, the focus is Marion Barber in the backfield that rushed for 885 yds and 7 TD, while chipping in with 52 receptions for 417 yds and a further two scores. Barber's running style, which has rightly earned him the nickname "Marion the Barbarian" makes it prone to accidents and bring down as the season goes on. This demonstrated by the fact that Barber has never rush 1000 yds in a season, although sometimes dominant. Management also sees that Barber and his relentless running style is the reason Speedster for the team drafted Felix Jones of Arkansas in the 2008 NFL Draft. Jones made an immediate impact for the 'Boys taking his first handoff NFL career home on a site 11 TD run against the Cleveland Browns. His rookie season was progressing very well until partially torn hamstring ended his 2008 campaign in 6 matches season. Jones ended up running for 266 yds and 3 scores and also returned a kickoff 98 yards for a TD against the Eagles 41-37 during the classic Monday Night Football contest earlier this year. When both shoulders ultimately fell rookie Tashard Choice filled in admirably. Barber is undoubtedly the best option Invented for the title Cowboys in 2009 and draft him as a No. 2 RB somewhere in the vicinity of Round 4 right next to her shoulders like Marshawn Lynch and Darren McFadden. Jones is a number 4 3/Flex borderline option for many owners heading into this season and in the memories pretend that I have participated on CBS Sports is going on around the seventh to eighth round. In my estimation Jones is a nice selection at that time. The choice is worth taking a flyer round late on as he did well when called last year and if a Barber or Jones gets hurt again this year its value may increase immediately because of increased tuition.
While I agree with the Liberation of TO I'm not a big believer Roy Williams and certainly not a believer like Jerry Jones. First, what gave up for Williams was surprising: the first, third and sixth round to take a receiver, even if it was stuck on a horrible team has never really lived up to its press clippings, because leaving the University of Texas in 2004. The Cowboys are banking on Williams to replace much if not all of the above statistical reference and quite frankly I do not see that this happen. First, while the Lions are terrible, do not seem to bother my man Calvin Johnson, who helped me this year has led to a league title by capturing passes from a quarterback who literally did not know where the bottom line of the end zone was. Williams is decent and I believe a good number two option for fantasy owners this year because of the amount of beads is sure to see his way with Owens hours in Buffalo, but if you are thinking that he is going to put up numbers like number 81 you are sadly mistaken. Keep an eye on the Williams draft day this August, but do not reach for him too high or you will surely be disappointed. Austin and Crayton are the other main options Reception for Dallas and two I like most Austin because of its ability to ball deep, but is not thought of writing Miles least until the 10th round. Crayton is a late round flyer better and not another WR Cowboy deserves consideration a draft at the time of printing.
Dallas is the best sports league TE Jason Witten that helped me a championship last year. Witten still regarded as one of the top 3 TE 'available this year as workload Most probably will increase if possible with the departure of TO If you really want Witten be willing to spend one quarter later than the fifth gathering around him as it is here that he was consistently in the mocks going CBS.
The article in fact last year I did not quite high DST Dallas and why? The team had signed troubled but talented CB Adam "Pac Man" Jones and was also one of the rising stars alloys defense LB DeMarcus Ware. But things never panned as Pac Man has done nothing on the field and having to do things out of it and was eventually released and the entire unit has been inconsistent all year. While things may improve this year (hard to get much worse than '08) Until demonstrates that this unit can be a dominant force on a regular basis does not consider using as a number one option. Jones offers a nice spark in the return game, but we need more than that, especially if you play in a league like mine that is heavy defensive and assign points for tackles, bags etc..
Well that concludes my examination of fantasy Cowboys. Next up: The Eagles in Philadelphia.
